What are copper castings and what is their basic production process?

Copper castings refer to solid metal components formed by heating copper-based alloy raw materials to molten state, pouring liquid alloy into customized mould cavities, and cooling to solidify into target shapes. The whole production process follows strict metallurgical control standards.First, pure copper ingots and corresponding alloy elements are put into melting furnaces and heated to the melting range of copper alloys, with deoxidation and impurity removal treatments to eliminate oxides and air bubbles inside the melt.Next, moulds are preheated and coated with isolating release agent to prevent copper liquid adhesion and uneven cooling defects.Molten copper fills the mould cavity through pre-designed runner systems under gravity or low pressure. After full solidification, the mould is disassembled to take out rough castings, which then go through cutting, shot blasting and trimming to remove redundant runners, flash and surface burrs. This casting process can form complex integrated structures that are difficult to complete by single machining, supporting both small batch custom trial production and standardized mass manufacturing of copper alloy parts.
