Despite comprehensive advantages,aluminum castings have inherent material and structural limitations that restrict certain application scenarios.The melting point of aluminum alloy sits at approximately 660°C,so castings cannot sustain long-term operation under ultra-high temperature environments where steel or superalloy castings are required.The surface hardness of untreated aluminum castings is lower than iron and steel,leading to faster abrasion under continuous heavy friction without hard surface treatment.Cast aluminum components show weaker fatigue resistance than wrought aluminum products,making them less ideal for parts enduring long-term cyclic alternating load without structural reinforcement.Gas entrapment risks in casting processes may create internal micro voids,which can damage air tightness for high-pressure sealing assemblies if process control is inadequate.In addition,aluminum produces galvanic corrosion when directly contacted with dissimilar metals like steel in humid environments,requiring isolation gaskets or surface insulation treatment for combined assemblies.
